KID GIGS and GIG STARTERS

KID GIGS
Our Kid Gigs are for students ages 12-17. (For younger kids, see "Gig Starters", below.) No performance experience is required, but students are expected to at least have "advanced beginner" skills on their principal instrument. Bands meet on a weekly basis, for two hours. The sessions generally run for about 4 months (16 weeks). However, depending on start dates and other scheduling concerns - including what's convenient for our students - sessions might run anywhere from about 12 to 20 weeks. We'll have start dates, end dates, and performance dates for each session posted as early as possible. All sessions culminate in a live performance at a public venue.

An instructor (or "show leader") will help with song selection, lead the weekly rehearsals, and keep everyone organized with charts and other resources. Songs may be moved to appropriate keys to accommodate the singers. A second faculty member is on hand as well, ensuring a well monitored, efficiently run rehearsal.

FALL 2019 KID GIGS

Classic Rock and Kids Pick 'em

Show leader Josh Auchterlonie selects the starting songs for the group and then creates a final set list with input from the students.

If you're considering enrollment, please feel free to visit us during a Saturday session to see a Gig Center rehearsal in action.

For fall 2019, Saturday sessions are underway (as of 9/21); Thursdays may be added, pending enrollment.

The Gig performance is tentatively scheduled for the third week of December.

GIG STARTERS
Gig Starters is a performance-based program for beginning students, generally ages 7-11. We know that playing in a group helps young people stick with learning an instrument, so these weekly sessions emphasize teamwork and introduce the basic concepts of playing in a band. Consider this program even if your child takes lessons elsewhere; it's a great companion to private instruction. When a student is ready, we move them to a regular Gig.

Bands meet on a weekly basis, for two hours. Just as with the "Kid Gigs" (above), the sessions generally run for about 4 months (16 weeks). However, depending on start dates and other scheduling concerns - including what's convenient for our students - sessions might run anywhere from about 12 to 20 weeks. We'll have start dates, end dates, and performance dates for each session posted as early as possible. All sessions culminate in a live performance at a public venue.
