The info provided below is regarding school-year enrollment at The Gig Center.
Inquiring about lessons? When you call, visit, or email us, we'll be glad to answer any questions. First, read through this information, so you’ll have a sense of how our program works. You’ll also want to have some idea of when you’re available, as finding a convenient day and time is typically the toughest part of the registration process. For new students the first lesson is payable individually. After that, we'd look at how many weeks are remaining in the current semester (see below) to calculate the tuition balance. Once enrolled, students who wish to continue are automatically re-registered each semester.
Scheduling & Tuition
During the school year, lessons are offered on a semester basis. Students register for the entire semester, or all the lessons remaining in the semester. Lessons are given weekly, and are all private (one-on-one) sessions. Once registered, students take their lessons at the same day and time each week. Our fall semester generally starts around Sept 1, and runs through the final week of January (or into early Feb.). The spring semester runs from February (or late January) through mid-June. The tuition is pro-rated, so if you join after the semester has begun, you only pay for the remaining lessons in the semester.
The per-lesson rates are as follows:
$55.00 for each 30-min lesson; $82.50 for 45-mins*; $110.00 per hour.
(In certain specific situations, we may offer lessons on an individual, weekly, or semi-weekly basis, rather than by semester. These lessons are $60/$90/$120 for 30/45/60 minute lessons.)
To calculate your tuition, we multiply the per-lesson amount by the number of lessons in the semester, plus a $40.00 registration fee (assessed once per family each semester). Tuition for the entire semester (or all remaining lessons) is payable in full upon registration*, unless you register before the upcoming semester begins, in which case you may reserve your time by leaving a deposit. Once enrolled, students may keep their existing times by re-registering during June for the following fall, and December for the upcoming spring. Leaving a deposit reserves your time for the upcoming semester. The balance of the tuition is due around the start of the semester. (Sept. 1 for the fall semester balances, March 1 for the spring.) You'll receive a notice/invoice via email prior to that time reminding you about any balance due.
Deposits (per student) are as follows:
$500.00 for 30-min lessons; $750.00 for 45-min lessons*; $1,000.00 for 60-min lessons
*REGARDING 45-MINUTE LESSONS: Opportunities for 45-minute lessons contingent on scheduling availability. The Gig Center may not offer a 45 minute lesson in a 60-minute time slot.
You may pay by check or credit card. We require that a credit card number be left on file, regardless of your mode of payment. If you start lessons after the fourth week of a semester, tuition for the remainder of that semester is payable in full upon registration. Existing students are automatically re-registered in December for the following spring semester, and in June for the following fall. Simply notify us if you do not wish to continue, or if you prefer to pay by a mode other than the credit card that is on file. You'll always be reminded via email regarding registration times, and notified of dates by which we require any information.

Payment timetable
The following is our annual schedule for tuition payments:
Tuition is payable (and is usually assessed automatically) on or about the 1st of the month as indicated below:
June: Deposits payable to reserve your time for the upcoming fall semester.
September: Balances payable for the fall semester.
December: Deposits payable to reserve your time for the upcoming spring semester.
March: Balances payable for the spring semester.
*For new students, the initial payment timetable naturally depends on when you start your lessons. If it's early in the semester, we may accept a deposit with the balance payable the following month. Once we get into October (for the fall) and March (for the spring), the balance of the semester is payable in full.
As noted above, students are automatically re-enrolled, with payments assessed to your credit card. You will always be reminded of this, in case you wish to discontinue, or use another mode of payment. You will also be notified if we do not have valid credit card information on file.
Exact Tuition for Fall 2024
Please note: All tuition totals listed below include the $40.00 registration fee, which is assessed just once per family each semester. Totals for additional family members would be $40.00 less than indicated.
On Mondays and Thursdays, there are 19 lessons in the semester.
Total tuition for nineteen 30-minute lessons: $1,085.00 ($500.00 deposit on June 1, $585.00 balance on September 1.)
Total tuition for nineteen 45-minute lessons*: $1,607.50 ($750.00 deposit on June 1, $857.50 balance on September 1.)
Total tuition for nineteen 60-minute lessons: $2,130.00 ($1,000.00 deposit on June 1, $1,130.00 balance on September 1.)
On Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays, there are 20 lessons in the semester.
Total tuition for twenty 30-minute lessons: $1140.00 ($500.00 deposit on June 1, $640.00 balance on September 1.)
Total tuition for twenty 45-minute lessons*: $1690.00 ($750.00 deposit on June 1, $940.00 balance on September 1.)
Total tuition for twenty 60-minute lessons: $2240.00 ($1,000.00 deposit on June 1, $1240.00 balance on September 1.)

Summer Lessons
Summer lessons generally begin around the first or second week of July, and run through the 3rd or 4th week of August. Details regarding exact starting and ending dates are available the preceding spring. Summer registration generally begins on May 1. During the summer, we do not work on a semester basis, meaning you may simply register for as many or as few lessons as you wish. Tuition is payable in full when you schedule summer lessons. The tuition per lesson is the same as during the school year.
